Guest Post at Paolini.net

As promised, the link to my reflection on music and writing at Paolini.net. Apparently this is the month in which I write personal posts about my history with music.

In other news, it’s spring break, and on Wednesday I’m headed to Eugene, OR for camping and the Annual Conference on African Linguistics. I’m sure I’ll write about it when I get back.

  1. That was a lovely piece. I appreciated the discussion of vulnerability and online versus offline artistic performance. I think that I am also better and expressing myself off-line. I write blog posts and then edit them again and again after ‘publishing’ them; nothing’s ever right on the first try. But I guess I’ve never ‘learned my lesson’, so to speak, since I still really do love performing live — music, dance, what have you — and I’d love to continue doing so even if it’s not my primary talent.

    • Thank you! I still like to perform too (to an extent–I don’t really miss cello recitals, but I’d love to play in orchestra and chamber music concerts again!) and obviously I’m pretty into music, but I have no desire to be a professional musician.
